WHILE it has been another up and down week for City supporters, there was good news when Chris Lynch revealed he would consider staying with the club for the rest of the season.

Lynch’s declaration came after Saturday’s victory over Histon in which the classy young centre-back produced the latest in a string of extremely polished performances.

The Blackburn-born 18-year-old has been a revelation since signing on loan from Burnley in a deal that runs out in January.

But if the Premier League new boys agree to extend the deal, expect Chester manager Mick Wadsworth to snap their hands off.

“Chris Lynch has got supreme confidence,” said Wadsworth. “He does make mistakes but he doesn’t get affected by them. Some players do and that is a big problem for some players.

“Chris will make a mistake but the next time he will just get on with it and do it well.

“He still has bits to learn but he is coping with the physical side of the game against old pros who know their way around the pitch.”

The young Blues are in action tonight when they make the short trip to Nantwich Town for a FA Youth Cup first-round qualifying tie.

Kick-off at the Weaver Stadium is 7.30pm. Tickets cost £3 for adults and £1 concessions with children under 16 going for free.
