CHESTER CITY have been actively looking to strengthen their playing squad in the past 24 hours and now they are awaiting responses to two offers they have made for players.

City have offered a revised £125,000 to Queens Park Rangers for their ex-Everton midfielder Kevin McLeod, and despite reports to the contrary last night, Chester have still not had a reply from the London club.

Another offer of £50,000 has been tabled for Morecambe striker Michael Twiss.

McLeod is out of contract at the end of this season and will become a free agent, while Twiss was an integral part of Chester's Nationwide Conference championshipwinning side last season.

"We are awaiting replies from both Queens Park Rangers and Morecambe, hopefully they will be positive responses. Both players would be quality and exciting additions to our squad," said City chairman Stephen Vaughan.

"We are building a squad at Chester City which will not just see us through this season, but will also take us forward to future campaigns."

Chester are also being linked with Shrewsbury Town's midfielder Ryan Lowe.

Lowe, who was previously with Burscough, can play on the left or centre of midfield, and it is thought that Chester will offer a player-exchange deal for the 25-year-old Scouser.
