SALTNEY Ferry retained the Dale Recycling Solutions Chester & District Sunday League Cup with a thrilling 4-3 victory over old rivals Corner Pin LG.

Aden Shannon scored all of Ferry’s goals as they dashed their neighbours’ dreams of winning a quadruple.

It was Shannon who broke the deadlock in the fifth minute.

Pin, however, levelled the contest in the 30th minute through Tom Smith and then took the lead on the hour when Gareth Sudlow headed home after Carl Hallal had made a superb save.

Back came Ferry and Shannon took the tie into extra-time when he finished off a flowing 70th-minute team move.

The striker completed his hat-trick late on in the first period of extra-time and then added his fourth goal of the game to leave his side with one hand on the cup.

But Shannon and his Ferry team-mates were made to endure a nervy final few minutes after Sudlow netted again for Section A champions Pin.

David Shepherd scored his first goal for the club as FC Bull & Stirrup won 8-2 at home to Egerton Arms in Chester Chronicle Section B.

Alex Jones (4), Michael McTyre, Andy Clibury and Matt Richardson completed Bull’s scoring.
