HOLDERS Corner Pin LG will not get the chance to defend the Chester & District FA Sunday Cup for a fourth successive season.

Corner Pin, champions for the past three years, have been removed from the competition along with neighbours Saltney Ferry and Saltney Social Club because of their affiliation to the North East Wales FA.

The Chester & District Sunday League trio were kicked out following a meeting of the Cheshire County FA’s league sanctions committee.

It was made clear at the meeting that only clubs affiliated to the Cheshire County FA can enter its competitions, which include the Chester & District FA Sunday Cup.

If Corner Pin, Saltney Ferry and Saltney Social Club were allowed to enter next season’s cup they would be breaking two rules.

They have previously been allowed to play in the competition through the co-operation of the North East Wales FA and informal advice from the Cheshire County FA.

Corner Pin and Saltney Ferry – who contested this year’s final, with the former winning 1-0 – are now joining forces with Saltney Social Club to challenge the decision.

The three clubs have penned a joint letter to the Chester & District FA arguing their case for inclusion in the 2012-13 cup.

Corner Pin won the North East Wales Sunday Challenge Cup for the first time last season.
