HIGHFIELD Athletic have made it a dream Exacta Stadium double.

Having already sealed their place in the challenge cup final, they booked a second trip to the home of Chester FC with victory over Waggon & Horses in Saturday’s big Chester & District FA Senior Cup semi-final at Cairns Crescent.

There was little between the Chester & District League rivals but it was Highfield who ran out 2-1 winners with first-half strikes from Chris Larson and Adam Langton.

Sam Henry was on target for Waggon & Horses, who will have the chance to avenge their defeat when they meet their Blacon neighbours again in the challenge cup final on Friday, May 13.

The Senior Cup showpiece will take place seven days earlier and Highfield’s opposition in the decider will be hot favourites and last season’s runners-up Chester Nomads.

Nomads won their last-four tie with lower-league Railway Athletic at their Boughton Hall home 2-1 on Saturday.

John Cadwallader’s side raced into a two-goal lead thanks to a Kieran Smith thunderbolt and a deflected Dale Harris effort.

But they endured a nervy finish after Dave Robinson converted a penalty for battling Railway, who did the Chester & District League proud.

Nomads now turn their attention to securing the second promotion place in West Cheshire League Division Two.

Although they are one point behind Mossley Hill Athletic in third, they do have the benefit of having played four games less.

Capenhurst Villa (Iain Forster, Mike Urmston 2) hauled themselves out of the bottom two on Monday with a 3-1 victory at Heswall Reserves.

Tarporley Victoria are in the bottom two of Cheshire League Division One. Despite a man-of-the-match performance from Nick Abson, Vics lost 1-0 at Gamesley on Saturday.
