IN-FORM Christleton booked their place in the C&C Catering Equipment Ltd Chester & District FA Senior Cup semi-finals on Saturday after winning a feisty clash with West Cheshire League rivals Chester Nomads.

A first-half strike from Ryan O’Hare was enough to earn Ged Peacock’s men a hard-fought 1-0 victory that stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to six matches.

Both sides finished the third-round tie with 10 men after Swans striker Seb Walker and Nomads defender Danny Owen were dismissed for an off-the-ball incident.

The visitors pushed hard for an equaliser but Christleton – last season’s runners-up – held out.

The derby between holders Blacon Youth Club and Lache was rained off, as were the other quarter-final encounters, Upton AA against Waggon & Horses and Newton Athletic against Deva Athletic.

A Mike Banks goal ensured Capenhurst Villa Reserves won 1-0 at Hale Reserves in West Cheshire League Division Three on Saturday.

Tarporley Victoria and Malpas were left kicking their heels on Saturday as their scheduled Cheshire League Division Two games were postponed.

Every match in the Chester & District Sunday League was rained off.
