CUP specialists Waggon & Horses and Highfield Athletic will contest the 2011 Chester & District FA Challenge Cup final.

Having already booked their places in the Senior Cup semi-finals, the Chester & District League duo went one step further on Saturday.

Waggon (Matty Halal, Chris Williams, Paul Joyner, James Henry, OG 2) romped to a 6-2 home success over last season’s runners-up Christleton Reserves (Danny Davies 2).

The result secured their passage through to the final, where they will face Blacon neighbours and holders Highfield (Chris Larson 2, Ross Broadbent, Rob Joynson), who 4-2 at home to Cross Foxes.

Chester Nomads returned to winning ways in West Cheshire League Division Two on Saturday.

Nomads were heading for a second straight defeat when they trailed at the break. But they emerged a different side after the restart as Martin Gaulton, Kieron Smith, Mark Chadd, Dale Harris and Mark Crossan – with a wonder-strike – found the net.

Nomads had further reason to cheer after the match when they learned promotion rivals Mossley Hill Athletic and New Brighton had both lost.

Capenhurst Villa (Lewis Walters, Stephen Morgan) drew 2-2 at Maghull Reserves.

It was a miserable afternoon for local teams in Division One.

Blacon Youth Club fell 5-0 at home to Newton, Upton AA (Simon Andrews) suffered a harsh 2-1 defeat at Cammell Laird Reserves, while Christleton (Jamie Rogers) and Helsby (Liam Page) had their unbeaten runs ended by a 4-1 home loss to table-topping Maghull and a 3-1 reverse at Southport Trinity respectively.

In Division Three, Helsby Reserves (Gary Lunt, Adrian Callaghan, Warren Kelly) won 3-1 at home to AFC Bebington Athletic Reserves and Upton Reserves (Pat Walsh, Dave Carman) lost 3-2 at home to Ellesmere Port Reserves.
