Chasing pack is back in the hunt

WITH leading pair Bentley and Betley not in action this week, White Lion and Faddiley took full advantage with wins against Willaston White Star (WWS) and Frog and Ferret respectively in the Premier Division.

White Lion won 3-2 with a brace from Griggs and a single from Middleton, with Shaw and Wood replying for WWS. Meanwhile, Faddiley thumped the Ferret 5-0, Danny Massey bagging a hat-trick and Vickers and O'Reilly the other scorers.

Wickstead continued their winning ways, beating Nantwich YF 2-1. Adams and Hancock scored for Wickstead with Lomas replying for the Farmers. Ancient Briton eased past Audlem Town with a comfortable 3-0 victory, goalscorers were Weilding, Nichols and Caldwell.

Sydney Arms remain bottom despite making it two wins on the bounce, with a 6-4 scoreline against Wrenbury. Scorers for Sydney were Robinson (2), Whitehead, Gregory, Hadzik and Jinks, while Peberoy (2), Deeson and Griffiths replied for Wrenbury.

In Division One, Nantwich Town held leaders Elephant to a 2-2 draw. Hansen grabbed a brace for the Elephant and Spruce and Shepley were on target for Nantwich.

Belle Vue and Beeston Hotel took full advantage with their respective wins over Hop Pole and The Express. Belle Vue won 2-0 with goals from Goodall and Walton, while Beeston won 2-1. Scorers for Beeston were Jackson and Rogerson, with Dixon replying for Express.

Clay Lane remain unbeaten after thrashing Railway Hotel 6-1. For Clay Lane, Skupski helped himself to four goals, aided by a single from Dawson and an own goal. Truan grabbed the Railway consolation.

AC Wickstead ran out 3-0 winners against Peacock, with Brian Adams, Brendon Stockton and Andy Betley hitting the net. The Vine and Crewe Corinthians fought out a 1-1 draw, with Ashley scoring for The Vine and Barlow on target for Corinthians.

The final game in this division was also a 1-1 draw between Salvador and Fox Elworth. Barnes netted for Salvador and Roberts replied for the Fox. Anybody who would like to officiate in Regional League games is asked to contact David Salmon on 520337.
