THE Andrews brothers made another telling contribution as Upton AA recorded their sixth win of the season in Division One on Saturday.

Simon and Danny Andrews weighed in with a goal apiece, and were joined on the scoresheet by Mark Thompson, as the Chester outfit eclipsed Vauxhall Motors Reserves 3-2. Ian Willis and Anthony Carroll scored for the Motormen. Upton are now just three points in arrears of second-placed Christleton and have a game in hand.

Despite having Ben Harvey on target, Christleton forfeited pole position in Saturday's home fixture with Maghull. Dave Nolan and Liam Locke obliged for the visitors in a narrow 2-1 success.

It was also a bad day for Blacon YC, who fell foul of new leaders Heswall at Cairns Crescent. Jamie Kenyon bagged both goals as the 2005 champions won 2-0.

In Division Two, a solitary strike from Nick Askey was enough for Helsby to wrestle valuable maximum points from their trip to bottom club FC Pensby.

Upton AA Reserves recorded their third win of the season in Division Three after Luke Jackson and Dave Owens found the net in an excellent 2-1 success at fourth-placed Manor Athletic. Liam Phelan netted for the hosts. Goals from Andy Owens and Harry Wilson were not enough as Blacon YC Reserves slumped 3-2 at Grange Athletic. Paul Davies (2) and Steve Coombes were on the mark for the Ellesmere Port side.

In the West Cheshire Bowl, Chester Nomads progressed to the last four at Manweb's expense.

The 7-2 triumph featured a sparkling treble from Mark Crossan. Further efforts from Dale Harris (2), Andy Fitzgibbon and Edon Fenlon completed the statistics as a jubilant Nomads joined Ashville Reserves, Halton and Maghull Reserves in the semis.
