Oliver McBurnie will return to the Chester FC squad for this afternoon's clash with title contenders Bristol Rovers.

On-loan Bradford City centre forward McBurnie missed last weekend's 3-2 defeat at home to Woking as he has been on international duty with Scotland under-19s.

The 18-year-old trained with the rest of the Blues squad yesterday and should be involved from the start at the Memorial Stadium (3pm).

Chester have failed to register a win in four matches and have a difficult Easter with third-placed Bristol today before hosting Forest Green Rovers, who are sixth, on Monday.

Steve Burr employed three centre halves in the loss to Woking but the experiment was unsuccessful and the manager has will return to his preferred formation with McBurnie set to lead the line.

Gareth Roberts should return at left-back while Kieran Charnock misses out through suspension following his red card last weekend.

“It doesn’t come much tougher than these two games,” said Burr.

“Bristol are in very good form so we know how tough that’s going to be down there and Forest Green have been formidable this season too.

“It will be a big crowd at Bristol, probably bigger than the Wrexham game last month, and these are the sort of games players should want to be involved in so we are looking for an improvement.”

Rovers have been in excellent form of late and, along with Grimsby Town, are hot on the heels of leaders Barnet, who have a one point advantage.

Gas boss Darrell Clarke welcomes back Lee Mansell from suspension while Ellis Harrison and Jake Gosling are back from international duty.

Last time the teams met, Rovers were leading 2-0 but the Blues battle back to draw 2-2 with goals from Rhys Oates and Matty Hughes.

Clarke said: “I know Steve Burr and I know how his teams like to play football, they’re a very good footballing team, they like to move the ball and pass the ball quickly.

“They’ve had a pretty solid season, he’s got them into mid table which I’m sure he’s delighted about, but I’m sure they’ll be looking to finish the season strongly.

“With five games to go we’re a point behind and pretty confident. It’s all about points and trying to win football matches but it’s a tough league to get out of and like I’ve said we’re Bristol Rovers and they are no easy games.”
