Barnsley midfielder Brad Abbott has extended his loan at Chester FC for a second month.

Saturday's 1-0 success at Lincoln City was the final game of his initial month-long move and there was the possibility he would be recalled to Oakwell with the Tykes having sacked manager Danny Wilson.

However, the 20-year-old, who was born in Doncaster, last week indicated his willingness to remain at the club and the extension was confirmed on Monday afternoon.

He will be expected to keep his place in midfield for the home game with Eastleigh on Saturday (3pm).

Abbott made his debut in the goalless draw at Southport and has since helped the Blues to record four straight victories, scoring his first goal for the club in the 4-0 home win over Lincoln.

Blues boss Steve Burr will now be eager to sort out an extension for Bradford City striker Oliver McBurnie, who has made a similar impression in his temporary stay at the Swansway Chester Stadium.
