VAUXHALL Motors suffered their third consecutive Blue Square North defeat on Saturday when they went down 3-0 at leaders Nuneaton Town.

Carl Macauley’s men are enjoying a superb season but they were no match for a Nuneaton side battling it out with three other teams for the title.

The outcome might have been different had man-of-the-match Leighton McGivern taken one of the chances that came his way in the first half.

Motors – who met and had their photos taken with JLS after bumping into the boyband at Stafford Services on their way to the match – will bid to return to winning ways on Saturday when they entertain mid-table rivals Eastwood Town (3pm). Under 16s get in for free.

Vauxhall then make their way to Corby Town next Wednesday (7.45pm).

Malpas’ four-match unbeaten run in Cheshire League Division Two came to an end on Saturday when they lost 1-0 at Denton Town.

Already without a number of first-team players, the visitors suffered an early blow when in-form skipper Steve Weaver went off injured.

Although Denton scored soon after, Malpas recovered well and, after Ian Jones saved from the penalty spot, they came desperately close to getting the equaliser their display deserved.
