KEVIN SHEEDY was left frustrated by Everton’s wasted chances as they crashed out of the FA Youth Cup.

A 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers last Thursday came after the under-18s were unable to make the most of their dominance at Loftus Road.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men early in the second half when Frankie Sutherland fouled Johann Hammar.

However Sheedy’s men were unable to take advantage of the additional man in a game where they struck the woodwork twice.

Anton Forrester hit the post before Ryan Higgins’ free-kick was tipped onto the bar by QPR stopper Gareth Deane.

However, it would be Bruno Andrade’s 49th-minute strike from distance which settled the fourth round tie.

“We performed well for a lot of the game and the players created some good chances,” assessed Sheedy.

“Early on we had a golden chance but put it over the bar.

“We kept getting in good positions but our crossing let us down.

“It was frustrating because it is not like we were beaten by the better side.

“If that was the case then we’d hold our hands up.

“We had high hopes for the FA Cup, particularly after beating a very good Crystal Palace side in the third round with a good performance.”

Sheedy admits the festive period meant he was unable to scout QPR as thoroughly as he would have liked.

“We didn’t really get much of a chance to see QPR live before we went down there last week and do our usual homework,” he said.

“Because of Christmas and the weather, they didn’t have a game so we were not 100% on them unfortunately.

“But our attacking play on the night was not good enough and, again, we failed to keep a clean sheet.”
