EVERTON youngsters Hallam Hope and John Lundstram are in the England Under-18 squad for the friendly against Poland next month.

The Young Lions will play their first game on home soil this season as Crewe Alexandra's Gresty Road welcomes the two teams on Wednesday 7 March.

Both Everton Academy men made their debuts for the Under-18s in the last outing against Slovakia in November, with Hope grabbing England's strike in a 1-1 draw.

Hope and Lundstram played consistently for the Under-17s, being involved heavily in their route to the quarter-finals of the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The pair are highly thought of at Finch Farm, and U-18s coach Kevin Sheedy says Lundstram is progressing well.

“John has played for the reserves already and he’s coming along nicely,” said Sheedy. “He’s been used as a holding midfielder and has got energy and a nice pass.

“John can score with his head and his feet too which are great qualities for a midfielder, and his quality has been recognised by England.

“Now he needs to continue to improve and work hard with his game. He has got a lot of potential but he knows that to fulfil it he’ll need to keep focused all the time and give his all.”
