THE Champions League format may be tired and need some attention – but the knockout stage ties rarely fail to disappoint.

And this week was exactly the same.

We had four crackers, with top players performing in front of full houses treating us to brilliant displays of football.

The one team which didn’t get result their performance deserved was Celitc, who were sensational.

But Juventus’ experience of playing under pressure and a smattering of extra class told in the end.

Nevertheless it was a fantastic spectacle, as was Manchester United in Madrid, as was Borussia Dortmund at Shakhtar Donetsk, and as was Paris St Germain against Valencia.

Roll on next week’s ties!
