ANDY CARROLL has completed his £15m transfer to West Ham United from Liverpool.

The England striker has signed a six-year contract at Upton Park, after agreeing personal terms and undergoing a medical with the Londoners this week.

The 24-year-old remains Liverpool’s club-record signing, having cost the Reds £35m when joining from Newcastle United in 2011. He made 58 appearances at Anfield, scoring 11 goals.

But he had found himself out of favour under Brendan Rodgers. He spent last season on loan with West Ham, scoring seven times in 24 appearances, and had been told that his first-team opportunities at Anfield would be severely limited this season.

Of his move, Carroll said: “It’s fantastic for me to be here. I really enjoyed last season, and that shows in me coming back and making it permanent. The fans, the lads and the club itself has been great to me, and what I wanted to do was come back here and play football.

“Since the end of the season I’ve had a lot of time to think, I’ve missed it and that’s why I’m back. Getting promoted the season before last, then finishing where we did – we did great, and it can only get better for us.

“The way the club’s being run, obviously getting the new stadium and everything like that, it’s only going up.”
