MIDFIELDER Alexander Tettey is hoping to erase the memory of his first 10 minutes in the Premier League when Norwich meet Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow afternoon..

Tettey, who was signed from French club Rennes, made his debut as a late substitute for Norwich in the 5-2 defeat against Liverpool at Carrow Road back in September, a match in which Liverpool striker Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick.

Since then Tettey has shown why he is a Norway international with a big future with a string of impressive performances, especially during a 10-match unbeaten run which saw Norwich consolidate their position in mid-table.

Tettey, who has never played at Anfield, cannot wait to run out in front of The Kop.

“I am really looking forward to it,” Tettey said.

“I have heard good things about Anfield and the crowd and the history.

“It is like playing in the Champions League, playing against teams such as Manchester City and Chelsea.

“It is like playing a Champions League game.

“Going to Liverpool will be something I will remember for a long time.

“We made a lot of childish mistakes last time. They scored two goals because of our poor mistakes. Hopefully if we can manage not to make mistakes this time we will be fine. The whole team has improved since that game. We have to go there and show everybody we have improved.”

Norwich decided to fly up to Liverpool last night instead of today to try to beat the snow. The team trained yesterday morning in sub-zero temperatures at their Carrow Road ground, which has under-soil heating.

Manager Chris Hughton said: “We have had to work around the weather. Our only option was to train at the stadium but we have done some important preparation going into a tough game.

“The performance against Liverpool is the one I am most unhappy with this season.”

Norwich’s goalless draw against Newcastle last weekend ended a run of four straight Premier League defeats and Norwich are confident they have halted the slide.

Tettey said: “We know we have to step up our game and get a win as soon as possible. We are looking forward to it and just trying to do our best.”

Tettey, however, is under no illusion how difficult it will be against a Liverpool side led by captain Steven Gerrard.

The two have clashed on the international stage and Tettey said: “He is a world-class player, one of the players I look up to. Watching him play you try to do the same things.

“Liverpool is not my favourite team but I always watched them to learn something from what they do.

“I’ve learned every game is difficult. I am just trying to be better from game to game. It hasn’t been easy, especially during the Christmas games when I felt tired.”
