Craig Hobson and Oliver McBurnie look set to continue up front in Chester FC 's penultimate game of the season at Aldershot Town on Saturday (3pm).

Both scored in last weekend's 3-1 defeat of Dover Athletic, which ended a run of six games without a win, and the pairing impressed boss Steve Burr.

Kingsley James (knee) remains doubtful and Sean McConville completes a two-match ban, so the manager could name an unchanged side for the first time since the win at Lincoln City on Valentine's Day.

"We went with the two big lads up front on Saturday but it's never about systems, it's about players," said Burr.

"We've predominantly had a 4-3-3 this season with two wide men and one down the middle, which has worked for us, but I prefer a system that wins you matches whether that's 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 and players will dictate what you do by winning games.

"It worked well for us Saturday. We thought we'd go with it. We had one or two players missing and we were maybe forced into it.

"It looked good and I like more people getting forward and when you've got two lads up there it gives you more people available to get into the box.

"It's always nice to win and we'd had a bad run up until then so it was nice to get back to winning ways."

Burr has targeted nine points from the last three games, which would see them finish on 63 points and probably inside the top half.

Aldershot, who sacked manager Andy Scott in January, have similar aspirations under caretaker Chris Barker, who accomplished his mission of keeping the club in the Vanarama Conference.

Burr said: "If we could get 60 points this season that would be a fantastic achievement for us and I'm sure we'd have all taken that at the start of the season.

"Aldershot have had a season where probably for them they are not happy with where they have been. It's a club that aspires to get back into the Football League like a lot of clubs in this division and I'm sure there'll be disappointed hence the change of manager.

"The lad Barker has gone in there and done a good job for them and is still a good player. He's been a great pro over the years and he wants to stamp his authority now on Aldershot and I'm sure some of the players there, like the players here, will be playing for their futures."

Barker was put in charge until the end of the season after he oversaw a six-game unbeaten run which saw the Shots move clear of the bottom four.

Defeats to Southport and Bristol Rovers followed but back-to-back wins over Forest Green Rovers and Torquay United secured the club’s place in the division for another season.

Compared to his predecessor’s record, a return of 19 points from a possible 36 shows the progress the team have made under the rookie boss.

Aldershot have had to do without Jaydon Gibbs, Joe Oastler and Matt Saunders of late but experienced midfielder Mark Molesley made his return from a thigh problem off the bench at Braintree.

Striker Brett Williams has scored 15 times this season while Tristan Plummer has two goals in his last three appearances.

Chester secured a 1-0 win when the sides met in October at the Swansway Chester Stadium as Matty Hughes netted on his debut.
