Nathan Turner v Solomon Taiwo

Nathan Turner made his first start in four months in the 1-0 win at Dartford, playing for the entire 90 minutes on a sticky surface.

He found the going tough in the first half as the Darts won the majority of second balls but improved as the contest wore on and will have been delighted to get a full game under his belt.

Two games in such quick succession will test his fitness to the maximum but the 21-year-old is one of most energetic players in the squad and covers an immense amount of ground in every game so he should be up to the task.

With experienced midfielder Jason Jarrett suspended the Blues have lost a physical presence in the middle of the park and the powerful Taiwo can take some stopping.

Taiwo, 28, rose to prominence with Dagenham and Redbridge with his dominant displays earning him a £250,000 move to Cardiff City.

Things did not work out for the Nigeria-born midfield man in South Wales and he is now with Luton Town, but joined the Shots on loan in January but is still finding his feet.

Turner is very good at doing the simple things well and provides the right balance between protecting the defence and freeing up those in front.

Shutting down Taiwo quickly when the home side have the ball and putting him under pressure can lead to errors and turnovers of possession, allowing the Blues to counter so Turner has an important role tonight.

Gareth Seddon v Chris Barker

Experienced defender Chris Barker dropped into non-league over the summer after making more than 500 appearances in the Football League.

He played the overwhelming majority of those games at left back but Shots boss Andy Scott has often opted to use his experience in central defence.

Barker stands 6ft 1ins tall so has enough about him physically to cope in the heart of the back four but he's certainly not one of the most imposing centre halves in the league.

Seddon gave the towering Mat Mitchel-King a rough ride on Saturday and his old-school approach can make him a nightmare opponent.

Although his spectacular winner earned him most of the plaudits, I was equally impressed with his attitude and workrate against Dartford and he led from the front.

He battles for every ball irrespective of who he is up against and I think he might be able to get the better of Barker tonight, although the absence of his strike partner Matty Taylor could be a fly in the ointment.

Seddon and Taylor complemented each other well and it will be interesting to see who Steve Burr brings in tonight but the key will be ensuring that whoever comes in affords Seddon the same support as Taylor had been.

Steve Burr v Andy Scott

Steve Burr oozes positivity and with his team on a five-game unbeaten run in the league that should be no surprise.

He has publicly distanced himself from the vacant managers job down the road at Wrexham and has appointed ex-Vauxhall Motors boss Carl Macauley as his assistant.

I know there are some Blues fans who fear Burr will be on his way in the summer regardless but I genuinely get the feeling he is falling to the club and recognises the untapped potential here.

Of course his top priority is securing the five or so more wins that will secure the club's place in the Skrill Premier but the direction in which his team is heading suggests that should be more than achievable.

Scott on the other hand finds himself under growing pressure and sounded very despondent after the loss at Tamworth.

His side have not won in seven games in the league and the performance at the Lamb Ground has been described as the worst of the season.

Aldershot started the season on minus 10 points having going into administration and Scott - who has blamed 'doom-mongers' for trying to bring the club down - reckons those points would make a huge difference to the atmosphere around the Recreation Ground.

But the reality is the Shots would still only be four points ahead of the Blues and defeat tonight would pile further pressure on the ex-Brentford boss.

Burr has proven he can set his team up to counter attack quickly and effectively and with Aldershot in desperate need of a win Scott has little choice but to chase all three points.

That should make for an entertaining game and an intriguing tactical battle.
