Who's playing?

Aldershot Town v Chester FC - Vanarama National League

When and where?

Saturday, January 9 (3pm), at the Recreation Ground, Aldershot, Hampshire, GU11 1TW.

Any team news?

With no fresh injury concerns Steve Burr may be tempted to shuffle his pack and find room for new signing Ryan Astles in the heart of defence after the big defender joined the Blues on Thursday from Northwich Victoria.

Another new recruit, Steven Hewitt, who made his debut off the bench against Altrincham on Saturday, is one player who will be pushing for a starting berth, as will Craig Mahon, impressive off the bench against Alty in the second half.

What has Steve Burr had to say about it?

"They've been inconsistent this season as well but are always a difficult side to play against at their place," said the Blues boss.

"From where they were last year, when I thought they had a really good squad, they've struggled a little bit.

"Our overall performance against Altrincham was very good but it was frustrating the fact that we dind't kill the game off.

"We'll go down there with that same positive attitude about trying to win the game."

Tell me about Aldershot Town...

The Shots, under the stewardship of Scottish manager Barry Smith, have had a season of inconsistency that has seen them fall to 17 in the National League, two points and two places behind the Blues.

They come into the clash with the Blues on the back of a 2-1 loss at Woking, their second in three games, both of those coming against a resurgent Cards side over the Christmas period.

Having endured a miserable five-match losing streak in November, the Shots have managed to arrest that slide in recent weeks, although their form remains poor and they have won only one of their last 10 games, with that three points coming courtesy of a 1-0 home success over Guiseley on December 19.

What happened the last time the sides met?

Saturday's clash is the first meeting between the two sides this season but when the two sides clashed at the Recreation Ground last season a first-half penalty from John Rooney secured a deserved 1-0 success for Burr's side in sunny Hampshire.
