SUBSTITUTE Adam Morgan’s two second half goals helped Liverpool under-19s to a 3-0 victory over Molde at Anfield last night.

Portugeuse winger Toni Silva added a third in injury time as Rodolfo Borrell’s youngsters gave themselves a real chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the NextGen Series.

Following two defeats in their first four matches, Liverpool faced a must-win clash with the Norwegian side. And as they did in Molde, they eventually secured a comfortable success.

Liverpool are now second in Group Two, two points behind Sporting Lisbon, who they travel to face in their final match on November 15.

A victory in Lisbon would see Liverpool progress, providing Wolsburg fail to win one of their final two matches against Sporting and Molde.

After the 2-0 defeat in Wolfsburg in their last match, Liverpool needed to win and they created numerous chances throughout last night’s match and hit the woodwork twice, but it wasn’t until Morgan replaced Suso at half-time that they made the breakthrough.

Just before the half hour-mark Raheem Sterling saw his curling shot just go over the bar after a mazy run into the area. And Sterling was then denied by Beinset after he was put through from a superb ball by Suso just before the break.

Liverpool continued to pile forward in search of the breakthrough when attacking the Kop goal in the second half.

Ngoo saw a superb effort cannon off the underside of the bar and from the follow-up Morgan's shot was deflected wide after he was set up by Sterling.

Liverpool finally took the lead on 67 minutes when Ngoo's pass put Morgan in one-on-one with the Norwegian keeper and he coolly slotted home low into the far corner of the net.

Liverpool continued to press forward for more goals and in the final minute Morgan grabbed his second, lobbing home as Beinset frantically tried to get back.

In injury time, Silva tricked his way into the box and prodded home Liverpool’s third and gave them hope of progress into the knockout stages.
