Chester FC moved into the second round of the North West Youth Alliance Open Cup with a 7-1 win over Macclesfield Town.

A hat-trick from Oliver Nugent, a brace from Joe Malkin and a goal apiece from Matt Waters and Corey Scarisbrick clinched an impressive victory.

Youth team boss Calum McIntyre was delighted with the display from his side.

He said: “It was another great performance in front of goal, we’re creating lots of chances week in, week out and we’re putting them away.

“It’s great for Oli Nugent to score a hat-trick but there were some outstanding performances. Jacob Evans is one of a number of players has shown how talented he is, causing Macclesfield problems at every opportunity, running at defenders, but has shown the real class he has in his passing.

“We were great to watch, especially in the first half. I feel like we’re getting better with every game.

“It’s always nice to progress in the cup competitions and it bodes well for a busy couple of weeks.”

Next up for the Blues youngsters is an NWYA Premier Division clash with Hyde at the Cheshire County Sports Club on Sunday (2.30pm) before attention switches to the FA Youth Cup first qualifying round tie with Chadderton, which is being held at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium on Tuesday (7.30pm).
