Chester FC's scheduled home Vanarama Conference clash with Lincoln City has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Frost covers had been in place on the pitch at the Swansway Chester Stadium but temperatures dropped too low for them to protect the playing surface adequately and with temperatures set to continue to plummet this afternoon into the evening, it was deemed that the pitch would not recover in time.

The Blues had been due to entertain Chris Moyses' side, who are currently two points outside the play-offs following a superb run of form that has seen them take 22 points from a possible 30, which has included wins over leaders Barnet and promotion hopefuls Grimsby Town.

The Met Office has placed a yellow warning of snow for the area, with a heavy snowfall expected to blanket Chester and the surrounding areas from 6pm onwards which could have posed significant travel problems for fans, teams and officials.

Steve Burr's men are set to be back in home league action again this Saturday when they face a visit from the Blues boss' former employers Kidderminster Harriers, who today added Gateshead's leading scorer Danny Wright to their ranks.

The game has been rearranged for Tuesday, January 27 (7.45pm).
