St Theresa's kept up the pressure on the leading sides in Chester & District Sunday League Concorde Trophies Section A with a resounding 8-2 home success over Upton Youth Centre.

A hat-trick from Joe Cossins, a brace from Luke Jones and efforts from Ellis Moore, Rowan Brooks and Aiden Parker handed Saints, who had led 4-0 at half-time, the win. Dean Clarke and Mike Beisel replied.

Sutton Casuals landed a blow to Westminster’s title hopes as they claimed a 4-3 home victory over the league leaders to narrow the gap at the summit.

A first-half hat-trick from Peter Barnet and one from Jordan Gilford earned the spoils for Sutton while the Westminster goals came courtesy of Callum Doyle, Tom Nixon and Billy Nixon.

AFC Tattenhall remain in search of their first win of the season after going down 5-3 at home to West Park Rangers in Section B.

Andrew Pratt bagged a brace for the visitors with their other strikes coming from Curtis Hall, Lee Newman and Nathan Davies. Tattenhall made a fist of it but goals from Mark Perrin, Damon Smith and Aaron Grey proved in vain.

Handbridge Lions were unable to make home advantage pay as they were beaten 4-1 by Groves Athletic.

Allen Jones netted for the Lions but Sam Moore’s 17th and 18th goals of the season and efforts from Daniel Woodcock and Tom Douglas were enough to see the Ellesmere Port side claim the maximum spoils.

Waggon & Horses cantered into the last four of the Chester & District FA Whitchurch Sports Sunday Cup quarter-finals with a 4-1 win at home to Spital Vaults.

Danny Davies and James Henry handed the home side a 2-0 lead at the break and the same two players added a goal each after the restart before Jay Bridge netted a late consolation.

Extra-time was needed to separate 10-man Custom House and Tarvin Rex with the former progressing after a 3-2 win.

Shane Parry, Tom Thorley and Alex Hutchinson netted for Custom House, who had their goalkeeper sent off on 50 minutes. Robbie Plank and Alex Carlton struck for Tarvin, who lost Plank and their own keeper to injury.

FC Blacon will be in the hat for the semi-final draw following a 4-3 triumph at Waverton.

Garry Ellams, who had played in goal for Blacon during the first half, netted a brace while Sam Pickering also bagged two. Adam Hughes, Aaron Eymond and Josh Hazeldene were on the scoresheet for Waverton.

Airbus UK Broughton see a chance go begging in their defeat to Newtown

Airbus UK Broughton travel to Cardiff Met on Sunday (3pm) with boss Andy Thomas imploring his side to find a ruthless streak.

The Wingmakers’ winless run in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League stretched to five matches at the weekend when they lost their big basement battle 2-0 at home to Newtown.

The defeat ensured Airbus slipped into the relegation places ahead of the capital clash with Cardiff.

Thomas said: “We need to be more ruthless. First half we should have put the game to bed.

“The only way they were going to score was from a set-play. It was a scrappy goal again but we have got to be more clinical.

“We just have to keep doing what we are doing but we have got to be more ruthless as a team.”

Chester & Wirral League

Luke Jones netted a hat-trick as Blacon Youth claimed a 6-0 success at Kelsall in the Chester & Wirral League Dee 106.3 League Cup preliminary round.

Warren Roberts, Adam Stening and Lee McElmeel were also on target.

In the Goals Soccer Centre Cayzer Shield preliminary round, John Heaton blasted a hat-trick as Orange Athletic Chester put Elton Rigger to the sword 3-0.

Hoole Youth bowed out, though, as they ended up on the wrong end of a 4-1 verdict at home to Overpool Athletic (Dave Button 2, Ste Rothwell, Liam Pilkington).

Chester Nomads 3rds were beaten 2-0 at Ellesmere Port Town Reserves in the Queensferry Sports Premier Division Premier Division as the home side recorded their first win in 11 attempts.

In Olympic Trophies Division One, Elton Athletic were beaten 7-3 at home by Neston Nomads 3rds (Martin Coan 3, Jack Lloyd 3, Andy Lewis).

Andrew Todd, Tyler Grattan and Kyle Evans scored a brace each as AFC Quays claimed the three points with a 6-3 home win over Upton Rangers.

St Saviours had Gordon McLeod (2) and Joe Burns on the mark in a 3-1 victory at Princess Villa.

Meanwhile, in the Chester & District FA Unite the Union Challenge Cup third round, Cestrian Alex had Adie Gough (3) and Andy Royle on the mark in a 4-2 home win over MBNA while Blacon Youth Reserves were 3-1 winners over visiting AFC Essar.

Aaron Hinchcliffe (2) and Cal Bratley bagged for Christleton Celtic in their 3-0 home victory over Clubbies while Ben Woodman (3) and Dan Christian (2) scored for Newton Athletic as they won 5-2 at Upton JFC who had Danny Evans and Tom Berry (pen) on the score sheet.

West Cheshire League

Upton AA earned safe passage through to the next round of the Chester & District C&C Catering Equipment FA Senior Cup with a comfortable 4-0 win at home to Cheshire League outfit Malpas.

Goals from Luke Finch, Lee Guirado, Stephen Rowlands and Alex Smith secured the triumph for Upton.

In the First Division, Chester Nomads went down 3-1 at home to Mossley Hill Athletic to put the brakes on their march up the table.

Capenhurst Villa had Ryan Nicoll (2), Tom Hockley and Lee Ludgate on target in a 4-3 win at Vauxhall Motors (Jackson Ellis 2, Jamie Easton).

Lee Turkington fired six goals as Helsby thumped Smiths SD 9-1 in the Runcorn Senior Cup. Tom Turkington, Ian Cox and an own goal accounted for the other efforts in the rout.

Upton AA Reserves made it a club double, winning 4-1 at Cammell Laird 1907 Development in the Third Division with Nathan Mapletoft bagging a brace.

George Jones (2), Michele Apollonio, Lewis Moss and Kai Stockton swept Chester Nomads Reserves to a 5-0 home win over Helsby Reserves.

Capenhurst Villa Reserves (Lewis Cooper, Adam Smith) drew their table-topping clash 2-2 at home to Ellesmere Port Town.
