There was nothing to separate the sides in the big Queensferry Sports Premier Division table-topping clash.

Callum Bratley and Sam Morgan were on target as second-placed Christleton Celtic drew 2-2 at leaders Birkenhead Town, for whom Mike Parnell and Ryan Atherton netted.

Newton Athletic moved level on points with Christleton in third with a 7-4 success at Lodge Bar. Hat-trick hero Dan Christian, two-goal star Mark Richards, Ben Woodman and Lewis Davenport did the damage for Newton.

Blacon Youth won 4-3 at Ellesmere Port Town Reserves. But Chester Nomads 3rds went down 1-0 at home to Ellesmere Port. MBNA lost 1-0 at Higher Bebington Kelma.

Cestrian Alex are six points off top spot in Olympic Trophies Division One after a 2-1 victory at Clubbies AFC.

A Mike Taylor strike and an own goal ensured the Alex of all three points.

In a surprise result, second-placed AFC ESSAR had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to basement boys Whitby Athletic.

Elton Athletic won 4-3 at Ellesmere Port Reserves while Hoole Rangers drew 0-0 at Eastham Athletic. New Ferry Rangers were 3-1 winners at Neston Nomads 3rds.

Blacon Youth Reserves inflicted a first defeat of the season on Link Up Division Two pacesetters Sutton Athletic.

Blacon recorded a superb 3-1 away success.

Dave Jacks (2) and Garry Owen netted for Orange Athletic Chester in their 3-3 draw at home to Princes Villa. Upton Rangers lost 6-1 at home to AFC Quays United.

Tom Berry fired four goals as Upton JFC romped to an 8-0 win at Division Two rivals Chester Argyle in the Chester & District FA Challenge Cup second round.

Danny Evans and Chris Brett bagged braces to complete the scoring.

Chester Sunday League

Spital Vaults and Tarvin Rex moved within a point of Section B leaders The Cat.

Spital closed the gap with a 1-0 victory at Dee Rangers given to them by Jack Jones’ second-half goal.

Tarvin were more comfortable winners. They powered to a 5-1 home success over Custom House.

Mike Hallan hit a hat-trick with his third goal coming from the penalty spot.

Robbie Plank and Ryan Cartwright (pen) were also on target for Tarvin with Andy Riddell replying for Custom House.

Waverton hauled themselves into the top five with a 5-2 home win over AFC Tattenhall.

Tattenhall went in front with a 25-yard free kick from Aaron Grey and equalised through Collen Mutute after Sam Ward and Josh Leach turned the tables.

But Waverton sealed the points with a Steve Finlay brace and an own goal.

Axis United edged a seven-goal affair 4-3 at home to Upton Youth Centre in Concorde Trophies Section A.

Lee Walsh put Upton ahead direct from a corner but, despite a second-half double from Mike Murray, they were always chasing the game after that.

Sam Baker, Craig Graham, Mark Ashbrook (2) shared the strikes for Axis.

FC Hickory’s drew 2-2 at home to Sutton Casuals.

Sutton, minus top scorer and boxing star Paul Butler, who was preparing for his comeback fight, raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of Peter Barnet and Jonny Lawrence. But hey were pegged back by Jonny Lawrence and Joel Neale.

Waggon & Horses won 6-1 at Handbridge Lions to progress to the third round of the Whitchurch Sports Chester & District FA Sunday third round.

Harley Bennion, Mattie Mackin (2) Warren Roberts, Calyn Barlow and Russ Dean, with a 35-yard chip, did the damage. Mat Elson had brought Handbridge level.

Section A table toppers Westminster lost 7-0 at home to Adswood United in the Cheshire FA Sunday Cup.

And FC Blacon lost 4-2 at Partington Working Men’s Club after taking a two-goal lead through Alfie Cheers and Gary Ellams.

West Cheshire League

Upton AA were unable to prevent Rainhill Town from moving five points clear at the top of Division One.

The Merseysiders ran out 3-0 winners at Cheshire County Sports Club thanks to a hat-trick from Sam Gifford.

Helsby did Rainhill a favour by drawing 1-1 at home to Maghull.

Lee Turkington struck a late equaliser for seventh-placed Helsby, who are level on points with Upton in sixth.

Goals from Louis Moss and George Jones failed to prevent Chester Nomads Reserves from going down 4-2 at home to Capenhurst Villa Reserves.

Cheshire Amateur Cup

Chester Nomads swept into the third round.

Sam Manton scored twice as Nomads ran out 5-2 winners at Moore United. Jack Delgado and Elliot Gorst were also on the scoresheet for the Chester side, who also benefited from an own goal.

Deva Christleton progressed with a 3-0 home victory over West Kirby. But Malpas were knocked out after being beaten 6-1 at Styal.

Liam Benson grabbed the game’s only goal as Capenhurst Villa won 1-0 at home to Cammell Laird 1907 Reserves.

The draw for the third round has been made.

Chester Nomads will make the trip to Vauxhall Motors. Deva Christleton have also been handed an away tie. They will travel to Mellor.

And Capenhurst Villa will be on the road, too. They have been paired away to Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads.

Cheshire League

Tarporley Victoria went down 4-1 at home to League One leaders Warrington Town Reserves.

Freddie Bulow reduced the arrears.

Welsh Premier League

Andy Thomas was left frustrated after a second-half comeback from Bala Town resulted in a 3-3 draw at for his Airbus UK Broughton side at Maes Tegid on Sunday.

Former Airbus player Mike Hayes’ 90th-minute equaliser completed Bala’s two-goal recovery to earn a point for both teams.

The Wingmakers are now in the relegation zone with Newtown AFC after 11 matches and next face Carmarthen Town AFC at the Hollingsworth Stadium on Saturday (2.30pm).
