Almost 3,500 fans packed into the Swansway Chester Stadium last night to cheer England’s under 19s on to a convincing 3-0 friendly win over Turkey.

On a cold night at the home of Chester FC , Noel Blake’s Young Lions put the visitors to the sword with thanks to goals from U19 debutant Devante Cole, Lewis Baker and Callum Robinson.

The victory ensured that Blake’s charges head into the Elite Round of qualification for the UEFA U19 European Championships in impressive form with four wins in their last five outings.

With the home fans generating a great atmosphere, England took the lead in the 22nd minute when Manchester City youngster Cole, son of former Manchester United and England striker Andy Cole, latched on to a looping ball on the edge of the area before firing a low strike past Ibrahim Demir in the Turkey goal.

Chelsea starlet Baker made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 59 minutes after Southampton’s Sam Gallagher had been hauled down in the box.

Four minutes later the scoring was complete and the victory assured when Aston Villa’s Robinson, on as a substitute, took advantage of a mix-up in the Turkey defence and fired under Demir’s body.
