PROMOTION looks a distinct possibility for Wistaston Village after they grabbed another 20-point haul with a nine-wicket win over Bunbury on Saturday.

Visitors Bunbury were put into bat in the Division One fixture and stumbled to 52 all out from 30.4 overs. They had no answer to strike bowler Julian Cotton who returned of 6-22 from just 11 overs - his second consecutive six-wicket haul. He was supported by James Hogben (2-15) and Chris Townsend (1-0).

In reply, the Villagers took just 11 overs to score 56-1 with Keith Thornhill (26 not out) and Chris Townsend (18) rattling off the runs. They lie in second place and face Aston on Saturday in their final match.

Elsewhere in Division One, Aston suffered a seven-wicket reverse at Chester County Officers, after being bowled out for

111. In reply, Chester won the game with 112-3.

Sandbach were undone by visitors Hartford, after batting first and being bowled out for 106. Hartford won with 110-6, despite the efforts of James Oddy (4-48).

In Division Two, Audlem fought out a draw at Styal, who were all out for 210 after making first use. In reply, Audlem reached 105-9 with Simon Banks (32).

In the Meller Braggins League Division One, faltering Cholmondeley were hammered at Stockport Georgians, who batted first and made 161 all out. The visitors were skittled for 49.

In Division Three, Holmes Chapel set a useful score of 170-8dec at Offerton, but the hosts cruised to victory 173-2.

Crewe have finished as runners-up in the first ever Phoenix 15 League. After winning Zone B, they took part in the finals in midweek.

In the semi-finals, they dismissed Newcastle & Hartshill. Batting first, Tom Gower (72) provided the backbone to his team's innings as they made 147-2, supported by Matt Dawson (57no). Newcastle only managed 128-4 from their 20 overs.

In the final, Crewe met Zone A champions Sandyford. Opening, Gower again led the way until he fell to Jonathan Barnett's bowling on 44. Crewe were all out for 125. In reply Sandyford made it to 126-6 with one ball to spare.

* Wistaston 2nds demolished hosts Bunbury by 175 runs. Batting first, they made 200-2dec with Peter Aspinall (107) and John Scott (57no).

In reply, Bunbury were shot out for 25. Architects of the collapse were Chris Trahair (6-11) and evergreen Richard Barlow (4-10).
