Tattenhall moved within striking distance of the Division Two promotion places as they claimed a 93-run triumph at Alvanley.

The hosts won the toss and elected Tattenhall in to bat first but found the visiting batting order to be fine form with the willow.

Ollie Thompson hit an excellent 72 from 70 balls after Glenn Coppack had notched an impressive 57. John Gibbon added a half-century to see the visitors to 273-6 from 50 overs. Andy Hayhurst’s  3-42 was as good as it got for the Alvanley bowlers.

The home side threatened a fightback early on when Stephen Charles hit 50 but Dan Power’s 4-39 ended the Alvanley charge as they were eventually dismissed for 180.

In Division One, Christleton fell to a narrow defeat at home to bottom side Brooklands.  The visitors won  the toss and elected to bat, hitting 163ao.

Iftikhar Naseer took 4-37 while his efforts were aided by captain Iroshan Da Silva’s 2-34 and Mark Coulson’s 2-4.

Christleton struggled to make any inroads in to the modest target set but Uzair Walters (41) and Da Silva (30) did their best to carry the fight to their lowly visitors. Yet a collapse in the middle order hobbled the home effort as they fell short with 153-8 in 52 overs.

Oulton Park had to be content with a losing draw at home to Didsbury.

Park bowled first after winning the toss but struggled against the visiting batsmen. Andrew Hards took 3-32 and Guy Emmett 3-73 but Didsbury batsman Matthew Marfani was impressive as he hit 54 to help his side to 192-9.

The Park response didn’t get off to the best of starts as the usually reliable duo of Rick Moore and Tom Hyslop were dismissed for  just 14 runs.

Louis Bentley (41) and Nick James (36) did their level best to provide some resistance and the stubborn duo of Mike Cook and Hards held firm to leave the home side at 161-9 and frustrate the visitors.

Chester Boughton Hall kept their hopes of securing back-to-back titles alive as Warren Goodwin’s superb 95no helped them to a convincing nine-wicket triumph at struggling Grappenhall.

Electing to bowl first, Hall captain Lee Dixon and Aussie bowler Josh Henderson took 4-23 and 3-42 respectively as they skittled their hosts for 157, although Ian Barnes hit an impressive knock of 89.

But Hall made light work of their target and Goodwin’s 95, which included 16 fours and three sixes, was ably supported by Mark Rowlands’ 48 and Matthew Griffiths’ 10no as Hall made 158 for the loss of just one wicket inside 22 overs.

Neston will fancy their chances of avoiding the drop after a draw and two wins, their latest success – a 116-run victory at Bowdon – lifting them out of the bottom two. Dane Williams scored a fine 102 and Jack Smith 48 as the visitors scored an important triumph.

Chester County Officers are mired in a relegation battle after dropping in to the bottom two in Division One following defeat at Hale Barns.

On a good batting track, Officers elected to chase and inserted the home side. Early chances were missed and Sujoy Jaiswal was quickly into his stride with 43 before the returning John Warrington bagged him with the score on 64.

Aussie Rob Phelan took on his mantle and rattled up 86no as the home side declared at 216-2.

After tea, Officers duo Dave Downham and Steve Birchall built a great platform of 94 before the introduction of leg spinner Malik threw a spanner in the works, with Downham being stumped for a masterful 66.

The game was still there for the taking but opener Steve Birchall’s dismissal for a well crafted 46 left the tail enders wondering whether to stick or twist.

Poor shot selection proved the visitors’ downfall as they ended on 158ao, handing fellow strugglers Hale Barns a victory that sees them leapfrog Officers and move out of the drop zone.

Malpas put in a spirited performance but were eventually edged out at title-chasing Bollington on Saturday.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Adrian Stubbs got them started with a solid 26 before knocks from Connor Tinsley (34), Keith Rickett (41) and Mike Parry (30) led them to 187-8.

After dismissing the dangerous Mohammed Ali for 51, Malpas had looked a good bet for the triumph before Julian McGovern hit 47no to steer the visitors to a match-winning 189-9.

Oakmere fell to a disappointing defeat at Stockport Georgians after being dismissed for just 91.

The home side made no mistake from their spell at the crease, notching 93 for the loss of just four wickets.

In Division Two, Kingsley fell to a four-wicket defeat at home to Ashley.

Knocks of 51 from Toby Mullins and 46 from Travis Martin helped the home side to 181ao but the visitors were clinical in their response and notched 182-6.

Visiting Cholmondeley fell to defeat at the hands of Woodford, with the home side in excellent form at the crease.

Batting first, home batsmen Rob Metcalfe, Neil Pennington and Simon Elms knocked 60, 52 and 45 respectively to see them to 238-6.

In their response, Simon Gardiner hit 40 and Jonathan Maginess 30no but Cholmondeley’s charge was ended at 153-8 after 45 overs.

Saughall came out on top in a low-scoring thriller at home to Glazebury in Division One.

The hosts opted to bat first and added 71 for the first wicket, James Huxley (18) and Ben Salisbury (28) aided considerable extras of 36. But the rest of the innings turned in to a horror show with all 10 wickets falling for 37 runs in 11 crazy overs.

Only Chris Andrews (20) reached double figures as wickets tumbled with alarming regularity. Dave Acton (6-26) and the pacy Sam Stanier (4-41) were the chief tormentors, bowling full and straight on a bouncy track as Saughall were dismissed for a disappointing 108.

Saughall needed early wickets in Glazebury’s reply and they duly arrived with two sharp catches at slip from Mandeep Singh. Wickets continued to tumble and when danger-man Jack Warhurst was cooly caught at cover by Gareth Roberts, the visitors were labouring at 24-5.

Saughall’s new-ball attack of Lawrence Gotts (2-41) and Mike Andrews (4-46) had delivered the goods. However, Callum Morgan counter-attacked brilliantly with 51 and by the time he nudged to slip, Glazebury were favourites at 87-7.

The visitors crept up to 101 and needed just eight runs for victory with three wickets remaining before Saughall once again demonstrated their fighting qualities as spinner Chris Andrews took 3-14.

A nervy run-out closed proceedings but the hosts held firm and Glazebury were bowled out for 106, with Saughall picking up 25 points for the triumph.

Ellesmere Port were beaten at Holmes Chapel by six wickets. Batting first, Port were dismissed for 155 ín the 31st over, a target that the home side made light work of as they knocked 158 for the loss of just four wickets.

The Groves claimed a three-wicket triumph at home to Old Parkonians, making 199-7 in reply to the home side’s 197-4.

In Division Two, Frodsham claimed a draw at Knutsford. The hosts won the toss and rattled 230-9 from their 45-over spell, but some solid batting from S Johnson (40) and T Halliwell (49) helped the visitors to 144-8.

Westminster Park beat visiting Norbury by two runs in a tight encounter. Dheeraj Dendi fired 34no and Jaskaran Singh 30 to help them to 151ao.

The visitors fell short and were eventually dismissed for 149ao, with Bhanu Marella (4-34) and Ameen Ab Rafi (3-10) the chief wicket takers.
