WINSFORD hosted an annual Kwik Cricket Festival at Knights Grange on Tuesday.

Defending champions St Mary's from Middlewich entered two teams with Manley, Handley Hill, Greenfields and St Joseph's junior schools bringing the total to six.

Two mini-leagues produced winners and finalists - St Mary's and St Joseph's - who now qualify for the county finals at Warrington in July.

Cricket coaching sessions have been run in nine Winsford junior schools this term alongside sessions for Year 7 and 8 girls at the town's two high schools, with more than 250 children involved alto gether.

The festival was part of the Vale Royal schools sports part-nership scheme.
