SATURDAY proved to be an afternoon to remember for Saughall CC.

Their first team got their Cheshire Alliance Division One season back on track with victory at Old Parkonians.

Captain Chris Andrews (8-46) bowled with terrific variation and continually adapted his impressive field as the Wirral outfit fell for 161.

In reply Adam Griffiths (84) played some sensational shots as the visitors made it to 164-6.

But Griffiths’ performance was overshadowed by Andy Thomas (141no) and Ian Peters (120no), who set a 2nd XI record for the league when sharing an unbeaten 282-run partnership in Saughall 2nds’ thumping Division Six win at home to Styal 2nds.

Young spin sensation Joe Maddocks (5-16) also impressed for Saughall.

Rob Brumby (4-16) was in fine form as Capenhurst (81-5) won at Rostherne (80) in Division Three.

Oakmere (214-4) produced a top team performance to record a 67-run success at home to Lindow in Meller Braggins League Division One.

Sam Catling (71no) and Ian Eaton (90) shared a 148-run partnership as Oakmere smashed 214-4 and then stopped their visitors short on 147 (Nick Ball 4-34).

Nick Mumford (7-35) stood out as Barrow (88-2) won at Glazebury (84) in Division Three.
