CHESTER County Officers aim to bounce back at home to Stalybridge tomorrow after falling to defeat at Wistaston last Saturday.

Chester volunteered to bat first and put up a decent-looking total of 164-6.

Mike Rowlands showed some good form with 34 and Tony Hattersley (15), Chris Wright (10) and Ally Clark (12) contributed. The main feature of CCO's innings was a violent 46no by skipper Steve Johnson.

Wistaston made a terrible start, being reduced to 2-2 and 22-3 before recovering to post a winning 170-4 (Graham Wilks 2-19, Andy Barlow 1-22).

KINGSLEY won at Stalybridge despite a less than convincing batting and fielding display.

Choosing to bat first, the contrasting styles of John Elliott (39) and Ed Leneghan (32) saw Kingsley past the half century before Stalybridge's three swing bowlers took control.

With most of the team failing to get into double figures they were eventually all out for a below-par 145.

Some impressive clean hitting from Stalybridge's Omar threatened to finish the game within 10 overs until he was bowled by Adrian Burden (3-28). More wickets from Rob Massey (3-38) reduced the home team to 37-5 before Ogden began to add impressive runs to his six first-innings wickets.

Dropped twice off veteran seamer Anthony Alderman during a miserly spell of 3-8, Stalybridge's star man made an unbeaten 63.

The home team were finally all out for 117 thanks to a moment of brilliance from Massey, who ran out the last man with a direct hit from the boundary.

BUNBURY sealed victory at Rad-broke Hall by three wickets. Hall notched 172-8 with L Forsythe making 87 and P Cain taking 5-32. Bunbury won with 173-7 thanks to Lee Green-bury (44) and P McBennett (31).

ELLESMERE PORT produced a superb batting display to secure their first win of the season at Norbury.

Phil Ashton's side recovered from their opening-day defeat at home to Radbroke Hall for a 79-run triumph.

Ellesmere Port were bowled out for 205 (Ashton 36) before Norbury were dismissed for 126 (P Isaacs 7-21).

In Division Two, SAUGHALL slumped to their first defeat in more than a year after a horror show with the bat at home to Glazebury.

Batting first, the Chester team were unable to assert themselves and were reeling at 30-8. A partnership of 22 between Mike Andrews (11) and Ian Jenkins (6no) enabled Saughall to reach 64. But it took Glazebury just 19 overs to reach 65-4 (Mike Andrews 2-20, Les Perkins 2-5).

Captain James Huxley said: 'Glazebury were fantastic with the ball. It wasn't so much the wicket-taking deliveries that put pressure on us, it was the lack of scoring opportunities they presented us.'

At Styal, the hosts beat FRODSHAM by 53 runs. Styal made first use and posted 153-8 (B Large 5-42). In reply, Frodsham were bowled out for 100.

In Division Three, CAPENHURST lost by 75 runs to visiting Kerridge, who were all out for 103 (I Colclough 4-16). Capenhurst, though, were dismissed for 28.
