HOLMES Chapel are aiming to be more competitive more often as they seek to make a mark in what is set to be a tight Division Two.

All-rounder Raj Bhardwa will take over as captain from Craig Birchall and has managed to recruit brother Krishan from Cheshire County League side Bollington to bolster the batting and bowling.

Birchall said: 'We are hoping to be more competitive as we only just managed to avoid relegation last year. We think most of the teams are going to be of similar standard and anyone is capable of finishing towards the top or near the bottom.

'Raj and Krishan will be important play-ers and we haven't really recruited any other players, although we had quite a few join us throughout the course of last summer.

'Mike Hunter moved to the Wilmslow area in mid-summer and ended up as our top scorer, so it will be interesting to see how he does, and on the younger side, 15-year-old quick bowler Will Cummings is a first-team candidate.'

Meanwhile, Cholmondeley will be aiming for a season of consolidation in Division Two after back-to-back relegations.
