WIZARD of Oz Jack Scascighini continued his fine form for Malpas with his second century in a week.

The Aussie added to his 127 in last week's draw at Wilmslow with 117 in Malpas' League Knockout victory over Wirral Mersey Park.

On Saturday, he kept up the good work with a starring role in a home league win over Marple.

Malpas finished on 186-7 with Scascighini's 84 and Richard Pawson's 23no the main contributions.

Marple, in reply, were bowled out for 131.

Dave Hunt took 5-53 off 19 overs while Scascighini took 4-47.

The second XI travelled to Lindow, who scored 167-9. Martin Punnett took 4-35 for the visitors and 18-year-old Andy Brown starred with 3-33.

Malpas were bowled out 154 despite veteran Ken Mottershead amassing 54 and Seb Neal's solid 29.

Malpas were knocked out of the Cheshire Shield at Mersey Competition side Parkfield Liscard on Parkfield batted first and racked up a 244-3 total in their 45 overs.

A weakened Malpas battled hard but just fell short on 238-8, with captain Jonny Suckley doing a great job with 166. He was aided by Mark Dunning's 32.

32. Alvanley took maximum points in a victory against visitors Trafford MV, to extend their unbeaten run.

Poor fielding and wayward blowing allowed the Trafford batsmen to score freely.

Fortunately, veteran bowlers Peter Pearce (3-19) and Phil Jones were brought on and restricted the run rate. A superb reflex pick-up and throw from captain Glen Pickersgill to run out the last batsman summed up Alvanley's revival and they were grateful to be chasing only 176 to win.

Jones and Szymura (33) began the chase in solid fashion. However, the stand-out batting performance of the Sanderson with a match-winning 60no.

Barrow were unlucky to lose to visiting Prestbury.

The home side were all out for 139 after a slow start.

Nick Bell and Craig Hulme forced the attack but, at 73-2, Bell was dismissed for 32.

Hulme and Dwyer soon followed and the innings was in tatters.

Phil Noble and Gareth Pawlett put Barrow on course for a creditable score. But both were caught and the final wickets fell quickly with two overs remaining.

Prestbury's Australian overseas opener relished the pace of Sam Walker and, after seven overs, 42 runs had been accumulated.

Chris Cowell and Mal Barrow reduced Prestbury to 71-4 before Walker was brought back to knock over the middle order.

But at 92-8, the Prestbury batsman went on the attack to pass the Barrow
