JAMES Hogben helped WISTASTON to get their Meller Braggins League Division Three campaign back on track with a hard-fought victory over Cheadle at The Brittles.

Batting first, the visitors were indebted to a fine innings by R Lindas (95) in their final total of 156 all out. For Wistaston, James Hogben returned 5-50 from 16 overs with Jon Minshall taking 2-34 from 13.2 overs.

In reply, the Villagers lost half their side for 39 runs and, at 76-7, started defeat in the face.

But Hogben (49 no) hit five fours and three sixes to save the day. He formed an unbroken partnership of 81 with Alistair Amber (24no) to secure victory with 157-7.

Wistaston's Sunday XI drew at Fenns Bank, after batting first and posting 266-8 (Stuart Avery 103 no). In reply, Bank made 266-5 (Chris Jobbins 4-52).

In Division One, CHOLMONDELEY lost by four runs at Brooklands, who batted first and scored 145-9 (Ed Middleton 4-32, Guy Ford 2-31, Neil Thompson 2-38, Andy Latham 1-35). In reply, the visitors faltered to 141 all out (Phil Evans 48).

In the Phoenix 15 Midweek League, Elworth lost their Zone A match to Sandyford. Tom Harwood returned 3-24 as Sandyford were bowled out for 95, but the Foxes were all out for 71.

In Zone B, Nantwich inflicted Weston's first twenty/20 defeat for the season at Whitehouse Lane. The visitors were dismissed for 100 (Gary Jennison 31, Phil Stockton 3-25). Nantwich cruised to 101-3 (James Warrington 26, Tim Cowap 25).
