SKIPPER Andy Hall is hoping his Cheshire side can finish the season on a high by clinching their third win on the bounce when they travel to Shropshire on Sunday.

The defending Minor Counties champions have named a strong team ahead of their final three-day match of the season at Whitchurch CC and Hall is looking for them to maintain their good form.

He said: 'We've played really well in our last two games, so it'd be great if we can take that form into the Shropshire match.'

Cheshire snatched a dramatic six-run win over Wales Minor Counties at Swansea CC earlier this month having also beaten Herefordshire at Alderley Edge CC at the back end of July.

Despite the success Cheshire remain in fourth place and cannot retain their title and Hall is hopeful the introduction of some promising youngsters will provide dividends in the future.

He said: 'It was always going to be really hard to defend the title, but we're building for the future, and in the next couple of years I can see us winning the championship again.'

Hall has made two changes to his side that will face Shropshire with experienced all-rounders Chris Finnegan and Jason Whittaker both selected, while Guy Emmett and Barney Cutbill make way.

* Cheshire team to face Shropshire: Andy Hall, Nick Cantello, Matt Dawson (Bramhall); Danny Leech, Nathan Dumelow (Oulton Park); Oliver Sadler (Nantwich); James Duffy, Danny Woods (Hyde); Jason Whittaker (Walshaw); Chris Finnegan (Neston); John Farrow (Heaton Mersey).
