WISTASTON Village enjoyed a memorable weekend as they claimed the first part of a possible double by winning the League Cup on Sunday.

The Division Two leaders defeated Chester County Officers by three wickets in a thrilling contest at Wilmslow to take the trophy.

Chester CO had posted 150-6, but Wistaston paced their reply to perfection to reach a winning 153-7.

The previous day they had stretched their lead at the top of the league table to 16 points with a nine-wicket win over Heaton Mersey Village on a day main rivals Bunbury were beaten.

Heaton MV were bowled out for 111 with Dean Titus taking 4-21. But Wistaston raced to 112-1 with A Sidie unbeaten on 62.

Bunbury suffered their setback at home to Glazebury, who won by 19 runs.

Glazebury were dismissed for 161 but Bunbury were bowled for 142 (J Hurley 37, J Cooke 34) as T Milmine took 4-44.

Struggling Audlem lost by six wickets at Frodsham.

Audlem were dismissed for just 57 as B Large returned fine figures of 4-8. James Siddorns took 4-26 in a spirited effort but Frodsham reached the winning post on 58-4.

In Division One, Aston and Sandbach slumped to home defeats.

Aston were bowled out for 100 at home to Castrol with J Taliana taking 4-58. In reply, the visitors reached 104-3 wickets with T King unbeaten on 60.

Sandbach lost by 21 runs at the hands of Stretton.

The visitors posted 139 with B Clissold (45) top scoring, while Andy Williams snapped up 4-17.

Prolific scorer Janath De Silva hit 45 in Sandbach's reply, but he lacked support and the home side were dismissed for 118.
