IT was an excellent weekend for Chester Boughton Hall as they chalked up a win in the league and made progress in the Cheshire Cup.

They opened up with a 53-run away success at Toft in the County League Premier Division.

Boughton Hall posted 186-9, Lee Dixon (39) and Steve Ogilby (32) their top scorers.

In reply, Toft mustered 133 as the spinners won the day for Chester.

Mark Rowland claimed 5-51 and Jack Williams 3-44.

Chester continued their good form into Sunday’s Cheshire Cup quarter-final against Urmston at Filkins Lane.

Batting first, Chester scored a huge 280-6 off the 45 allotted overs. Dixon (88), Kumar Sarna (69) and Mark Rowland (51) did the damage. Urmston replied with 128-8, Alex Kegg taking 3-31.

NESTON won a low-scoring County League game at Urmston by 16 runs. The visitors posted an all-out 121 at tea, Luke Camden 56 top scoring. But Urmston’s batsmen let them down and they were all out for 105 (James Crick 5-26).
