TATTENHALL completed a double over Division Two relegation favourites Mobberley – but it was not quite as straightforward as they might have expected.

After bowling the visitors out for 89, Tattenhall lost five wickets before crossing the finishing line with 91.

The Chester hosts won the toss and elected to field.

Mobberley had no answer to Andrew Morris’s pace and zip, and Rob Mulvihill’s line and length. Both openers could have had more than their one wicket apiece.

But from 9-2, Mobberley recovered to 53-2, before Alan Brock (3-26) made a breakthrough.

Wickets continued to fall, courtesy of Gary Forster (3-19) and Mulvihill (3-15), while Morris (1-26) was desperately unlucky not to claim more than one victim.

In reply, Tattenhall’s opening pair moved the score to 53-0 but Tom Hyslop’s savage innings ended on 33 and Ben Cooke went for 16.

Tattenhall then lost Graham Harper, Jason Davidson and Mulvihill, but Ian Richards (17no) showed stout resilience and Josh Spraggs (2no) hit the winning runs.

MALPAS dropped to 11th and are now looking over their shoulder after a 97-run home loss to Timperley.

Quaisir Rashid’s fine innings of 118no highlighted Timperley’s declared tally of 200-9 (Mark Goldsmith 4-41). Malpas were then bowled out for 103.
