SAUGHALL are looking forward to making the step up to Division One of the Cheshire Alliance after winning promotion in 2011.

The long-serving Ian Jenkins has chosen to hang up his wicket-keeping gloves but is expected to cheer his former team-mates on from the boundary edge. His place will be taken by new signing Tom Scott-Smith, a wicket-keeper/batsman who has recently played in Yorkshire.

The club’s other new arrival is all-rounder Peter Jones.

“We’re hoping he might have the same clout as his Dragons’ Den namesake,” joked James Huxley, who opens the batting for Saughall.

The Jubilee Park outfit fielded a second team for the first time last season and the move proved to be a resounding success.

The club is always on the lookout for new players. Anyone interested should contact Chris on 07734 865432.

FRODSHAM will be hoping for better fortunes in Division One this season, having struggled for much of the 2011 campaign.

CAPENHURST will take their place in Division Three this season.

James Duffy, the new captain of Cheshire CCC, leads his side into MCCA Knockout Trophy action at Northumberland on Sunday (11am).

The match is being played at South Northumberland CC. Chester Boughton Hall’s Lee Dixon and Mark Rowland are in the Cheshire side.
