IT was another bad day at the office for Tattenhall in Dicision Two on Saturday.

Their batting once again failed to spark as they posted 112ao against Mobberley, way below par for the pitch despite the tricky conditions.

John Hope was the only batsman who got to grips with the game.

He challenged the home side’s seam attack with an opening 37 but where he led, no-one else followed as Tatts’ batsmen surrendered.

Mobberly’s second change seamer Phil Burrell was the pick of the assassins, pocketing one of the easiest seven-wicket hauls he will ever take as his nine overs yielded 7-22.

With the pitch drying out and short straight boundaries to contend with, Tatts’ batsmen had left their bowlers with a joyless task.

It would be near impossible to restrict the hosts and turn the match around.

Mobbs’ opener Mazhar Saeed was in his default setting of ‘see it, smash it’ and the total was overhauled with relative ease.

Tatts, who are mercifully now safe from the relegation battle after other results went their way, were left praying for rain.

When it came, it was not enough to end the game and save Tatts’ blushes.

The visitors took only one wicket in Mobberley’s 116-run reply and they will want to improve before the campaign ends.
