THE future looks bright for Oakmere after they secured an Olympic legacy grant.

The Meller Braggins League club is celebrating being awarded £48,236 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund.

The money will be used to substantially expand and improve Oakmere’s changing room facilities.

Sport England’s chairman Richard Lewis said: “This investment will create a fantastic sporting legacy for Oakmere. For hundreds of clubs and tens of thousands of people, 2012 will be the year their local sports facilities got better.”

Oakmere chairman Phil Guest added: “We are constantly striving to improve facilities for all our members and we are delighted to secure one of the first Inspired Facilities grants.”

On the pitch, Oakmere open up with a home match against Runcorn in Division One this Saturday.
