OULTON Park ended a month-long wait for a win on Saturday.

They defeated Sale with 20 overs to spare in Division One of the Vivio County League.

Guy Emmett and Andrew Hards were the main contributors to the demise of the Sale batting attack as the pair picked up five wickets apiece, dismissing the visitors for 110.

Emmett finished with 5-29 and Hards 5-40, 10 runs coming off the last two balls of his spell.

Hards’ figures included a hat trick – and he also had a catch dropped off the fourth ball.

In reply, Lou Bentley (34no) and Martyn East (35no) helped guide the Little Budworth outfit to 114-2.

CHRISTLETON’S improvement continued with a 48-run win against fellow strugglers Heaton Mersey at Little Heath.

The visitors were bowled out for 114, despite another fine knock of 64 by Tasmanian Aaron Ayre. Ifti Naseer claimed 6-36. Earlier Christleton had posted 162 (Matt Astbury 30). They move up to 10th place.

In Division Two, TATTENHALL tumbled to a crushing defeat to unbeaten league leaders Timperley.

Craig Grindley contributed 109 and Matt Macquet 65 to Timperley’s tally of 237-5, after which Tatts were bowled out for 113.

ALVANLEY bounced back to winning ways with a memorable success over Bollington.

Hosts Alvanley were asked to bat first and were soon in familiar trouble at 34-3 and 82-5.

But the sixth-wicket pair of Chris Charles and Dave Shewring led a recovery, putting on 115 to lift Alvanley to almost 200 when Charles finally gave way for a supreme 73.

Shewring saw the innings through, swinging from the hip to take himself to a clinical 81no from just 73 balls as the innings closed at 233-7.

With the wicket losing its green tinge, bowling became more difficult. Bollington looked to be heading for a win when they reached 136-2.

But in a remarkable turnaround, the visitors began to wobble and wickets started to fall.

The last five fell for six runs and Bollington were all out for 210, Charles ending with 4-28 and Lee Ainsworth 3-32.
