A THRILLING home victory over Lymm OP saw Kingsley maintain their points cushion in second place in Division Two of the Meller Braggins League.

Hosts Kingsley were asked to bat on a soft track that had been freshened by a pre-match shower – and they were soon in trouble with their young openers back in the pavilion.

In-form Kieron Ollier (30) and Ben Pearce (25) rebuilt Kingsley’s innings and put their team in a solid position to post a healthy total. But it was not to be as the middle and late order tried to attack Lymm’s spinners too soon.

They paid the price as the home team were dismissed for only 96.

Adrian Burden then took 7-29 as Lymm were bowled out for 75.

CHESTER COUNTY OFFICERS saw their lead at the summit cut when their away clash with basement side Trafford MV was abandoned. The hosts were struggling on 16-3 when the rain came. Matches involving Oakmere, Cholmondeley, Bunbury and Barrow were also abandoned.

The four teams are likely to try again on Sunday, September 16 to play this year’s Cheshire Women’s League T20 Finals. Sunday’s Plate Final between Oakmere and Romiley & Dinting was abandoned. The Cup Final between Appleton and Chester Boughton Hall was never started.
