SAUGHALL got their Cheshire Alliance Division Two promotion bid back on track with a convincing eight wicket victory at Mossley.

The hosts opted to bat first and got off to a sketchy start, Lawrence Gotts producing a swinging delivery to bowl the opener with the third ball.

The Congleton team were 76-5 when pacey Gotts (5-64), who didn’t enjoy the best of luck in his first spell, to mop up with tail with three excellent full-pitched deliveries as the hosts were bowled out for 150.

In reply James Huxley (26) fell with the score on 66. Martin Huxley (49) capitalised on several lucky escapes and fell one run short of a half century.

Adam Griffiths (31no) and Chris Andrews (21no) ensured that there would be no slip-ups, seeing the team home with 10 overs to spare as they finished on 154-2.

Captain Chris Andrews said “Last week we had a bit of a horror show so it was great to respond in such positive fashion.”

At FRODSHAM, visitors Haslington won by 141 runs. Haslington declared on 251-5 before bowling Frodsham out for 110.

In Division Three visitors Norbury beat Capenhurst by seven wickets.

Cape were all out for 125 before Norbury knocked off 127-3.
