A VITAL home victory over Warrington has given Alvanley a survival lifeline.

Saturday’s success at Frodsham Road means they could still climb out of the Meller Braggins League bottom two.

If Alvanley beat Stockport in this Saturday’s final day decider and any of Upton, Tattenhall or Stockport Georgians lose, then their Division Three survival will be assured.

On Saturday, a resurgent Rob Fisher bagged 4-33 as Warrington totalled 216-5. A fabulous unbeaten 82 stand between Andy Hayhurst (46no) and Dave Shewring (39no) carried Alvanley to 217-5.

A five-wicket home loss to table-topping Middlewich left TATTENHALL in danger of the drop.

John Gibbon top scored with 47 in the Tattenhall innings of 152. Andy Cole went first ball in Middlewich’s reply, but they still managed to make it to 154-5.

Already relegated, MALPAS lost their 13th game of the campaign by five wickets at Stockport after being bowled out for 99. Stockport replied with 100-5.
