BRILLIANT performances by Jack Williams and Lee Dixon inspired Chester Boughton Hall to victory in the Premier Division of the County League.

Young leg-spinner Williams set up the success at Didsbury, taking a remarkable 8-66, before Dixon weighed in with a rapid 80, with 72 of those runs coming from boundaries.

Didsbury opted to bat first and they had reached 64 by the time Williams bagged the first wicket of the match.

The Hall youngster went on to produce a sublime performance, bamboozling the Didsbury batsman on the way to career-best figures.

Didsbury finished on 180ao from 51.3 overs, with Mark Rowland (1-39) and Alex Kegg (1-48) taking the other two wickets.

In reply, Chester lost Rowland early after tea for 13, but Mike Robinson knuckled down with Dixon to take Chester to 55.

At 77-3, skipper Steve Ogilby (39no) joined Dixon and the pair shared a match-winning partnership of 67 as the visitors ended on 184-4.

The first Premier Division century was scored on Saturday, with NESTON on the receiving end.

Toft’s Aussie batsman Jake Hancock scored an unbeaten 104 to carry his side to a useful 180-8 (David Hurst 3-13). Neston held out for a draw at 159-9 (Andy Murphy 55).

In Division One, CHRISTLETON were the latest victims of Grappenhall, who have won three in a row.

Rick Green scoring a fine unbeaten 105 for the Broad Lane hosts to bring an early declaration at 240-2.

Christleton were all out for 126, Iftikhar Naseer contributing a brisk 46 off six overs.

OULTON PARK’S strong batting line-up fired them to victory at Cheadle Hulme. The hosts racked up 228-5, but Park skipper Danny Leech led the way after tea with a fluent 65, aided by Ric Moore (54), as the visitors closed on 229-4.
