CHESTER Boughton Hall are the only team with a 100% record in the top flight of the County League after registering a second successive nail-biting victory.

Saturday’s high-scoring win against Didsbury was as entertaining as the previous week’s last-over victory at Oulton Park.

New signing Jordan Clarke scored his first runs for his new club as Chester successfully chased 286.

The Lancashire CCC scholar made an excellent 84, while Warren Goodwin hit 50, Daron Cruickshank made 47no and Ollie Law posted 46.

Didsbury, having won the toss, had earlier posted an imposing 286-4 (Jack Williams 2-85).

But Chester’s reply was immediate and Goodwin looked at his best as he took on the Didsbury attack.

The key partnership of the innings was between Clarke and Law, who put on 125 runs.

With the hosts on 228-5, Didsbury sensed they were back in the match.

But Chester held their nerve in a tight finish, Cruickshank scoring a six to take his side to a winning 290-6 – with just four balls remaining.

A giant second-wicket stand meant OULTON PARK had to settle for a draw at Toft.

The hosts battled first but Robin Taylor got an early breakthrough when overseas batsman Aaron Sayers was caught behind for nine.

This brought Adam Carolan (119) to the crease and he joined opener Toby Drummond (122) in a giant stand worth 225.

The pair both eventually fell to Kieran Berrington (4-74), who quickly had Patrick Roberts caught behind for one.

As Toft tried to press home their advantage, Taylor collected a couple of quick wickets as the hosts finished on 292-7.

In reply, Martin East went for 17 but fellow opener Danny Leech carried his bat for a patient 105no.

With the wicket getting slower as the innings went on, there was support from Louis Bentley (58) and Ben Gough (33) as Park finished on 228-3.

Champions Nantwich (272-5) were held to their second draw when they were unable to part NESTON’S (222-9) last pair in a high-scoring game at Whitehouse Lane.

In Division One, CHRISTLETON took nine points from a draw at Bramhall.

The hosts declared on 222-5 (Andy Robertson 61) but key knocks from Iroshan de Silva (57) and Jamie Creek (54no) helped Christleton close on 173-8, Simon Wilkinson returning fine figures of 4-32 off 20 overs.
