CHAIRMAN Mel Dobson came to the rescue as Tattenhall hung on for a Division Two draw at Timperley on Saturday.

The Flacca boys seemed destined for defeat when they slumped to 0-2 and 77-8 – but then in came their number nine.

Dobson (47no) shared a stand of 51 with Gary Forster (16) before teaming-up with captain Roy Sandford (16no) to haul their side up to 163-9 at the end of their 50 overs.

That was a poor total given that Timperley’s small ground makes boundaries easier to come by.

The hosts hit 33 fours and five sixes on their way to 247-7dec, with Dobson (2-51), Andrew Morris (2-53) and Craig Williamson (2-93) the only bowlers to make real inroads.

Rising star Williamson, meanwhile, has been rewarded for his fine form with a call-up for Derbyshire 2nds.

The left-arm spinner, who has took 43 wickets this season, was scheduled to feature in the three-day county clash against Worcester 2nds that got under way yesterday.

CHRISTLETON’S winless run in Division One stretched to seven matches on Saturday.

Paul Allen’s relegation-threatened men went down by seven wickets at home to Bollington, who made it to 195-7 despite the efforts of Guy Newell (3-41) and Iftikhar Naseer (3-90).

Earlier, David Bates (60) and Iroshan de Silva (38) continued their excellent form as Christleton posted 190.
