ALVANLEY produced their best Vivio Cheshire County League Division Two performance of the season to bring down high-flying Warrington by seven wickets with 41 overs to spare.

Accurate seam and spin bowling were the the key factors in helping Alvanley restrict Warrington to a meagre total of 100 in 36 overs.

Spinner Shewring claimed three wickets but seamers Charles, Weir, Roberts and Ainsworth were no less effective in tying down the Warrington batsmen.

The returning Si Gee (25) and skipper Bennion (17) kept Alvanley on course and Fisher and Charles saw them home for a 25 point haul.

Tattenhall adapted impressively to a soft, damp pitch to claim a 38-run victory and 25 points at Poynton.

The visitors had to battle tooth and nail to reach 116 all out from 47.5 overs.

The modest total proved to be beyond Poynton's reach with the home side falling to 78 in 27.3 overs.

Tom Hyslop (25) managed to find the fence with some lusty blows as batsmen struggled against the well-controlled seam bowling of Poynton's Danny Williams (6 for 39). Sam Green (29) added substance to the later part of the innings.

In spite of the slow going, Tattenhall could not see out the full allocation of 50 overs, losing their last wicket with 13 balls remaining.

The home side were never in a position to profit. The writing was on the wall as they lost their first five wickets for 25 runs to the pace of Robin Mulvihill and Alan Brock. Hyslop weighed in with two wickets and Mulvihiall finish with 4 for 28 as Poyton lurched to 78 all out.

Graeme Harper's 82 helped Tattenhall's 2nd XI win home to Poynton and Henry Dobson scored 98 as the 3rds won at Winnington Park.
