Filkins Lane plays host to a new county T20 competition on Sunday.

Chester Boughton Hall’s home ground will be the setting for the inaugural Dukes Unicorns T20 Tournament, which features Cheshire, Northumberland, Cumberland and Staffordshire.

The Cheshire team will be skippered by Lee Dixon, one of eight Boughton Hall players in the 14-strong county squad.

Dixon, who led Chester to National T20 Club Championship glory in 2014, said: “It’s a real exciting tournament and a great opportunity for the public to come along and see some top class cricket.

“We’re really up for this and I think we’ve got an exciting young squad lined up for the day.”

New faces in the Cheshire squad include Toft bowler Jimmy Lomas and Bramhall batsman Dan Lamb, while former captain and hard-hitting Hyde batsman James Duffy returns.

Cheshire start the ball rolling with a 10am start against Northumberland, who they beat heavily in the 50-over KO Trophy a fortnight ago when Dixon blasted 161, a record for Cheshire in the competition.

Cumberland then play Staffordshire at 1pm and the final, featuring the winners of both matches, will be held at 4pm.

Admission is free and there will be refreshments and entertainment around the ground.

Cheshire squad: Lee Dixon (Chester BH); Mark Rowland (Chester BH); Nick Anderson (Didsbury); Ash Davis (Chester BH); James Duffy (Hyde); Warren Goodwin (Chester BH); Rob Jones (Toft), Harry Killoran (Chester BH); Danny Lamb (Bramhall); Jack Williams (Chester BH); Jimmy Lomas (Toft); Rick Moore (Chester BH); Khalid Sawas (Hyde); Ollie Law (Chester BH)

The winners will go on to Finals Day in Banbury in July.
